Oscar awards - 2007

The OSCAR results are out and Martin Scorsese has finally been awarded an oscar. I stuck my neck out by speculating the winners for the 'Sound mixing' and 'Visual effects' category and appear to have got it right though the 'Best animated feature' award went to 'Happy Feet' while I thought 'Cars' was a good effort. The whole world and some aliens too predicted an oscar to Martin Scorsese which has ended in a double whammy - Best Direction and Best Picture, so no big deal on telling about that one.

Well Scorsese deserved it for sure. A double whammy was a surprise for me though. Cos I actually wanted Clint Eastwood to get one of the two. Well I expected Cars to get it, but Happy Feet was more 'touching' if you will so not that much of a disappointment. What's your thoughts about the Best Actor, Actress and supporting role results?

Haven't seen Little Miss Sunshine and hence can't comment on the Best Supporting Actor award. Saw only bits of Dreamgirls, it wouldn't be fair to comment on the Best Support Actress either. Clint's been getting Oscars fairly consistently and hence no dissapointments over his misses despite his presence with two strong movies. I loved Peter O Toole in Venus, the movie was lovely despite a stupid ending. But certainly Forest Whitaker must have done a stupendous job in The Last King of Scotland, waiting to see that. Best Actress was as predicted, I cannot stand to see Penelope Cruz walk with an oscar though many say she's finally managed to do some 'acting' in Volver.

Why do I get the feeling that they gave the Oscar to Martin, only because he had been passed over too many times? :-)

Like the old agage goes - "Better late than nevver" and also because "The Departed" was a pretty good film despite not being an 'original' story.

Hey stop commenting on Penelope's acting will ya. She might stop doing 'fun' stuff and start doing your stupid acting. I for one say, let' have more Bimbos than actresses. You wanna see acting go watch Susan Sarandon. I'll stick to Charlize and Penelope (although after Monster I have to think twice)
